The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “In Sūrah al-Baqarah, there is a verse which is the best verse of the Qur’ān. It is never recited in a house except that the Shaytān leaves: it is Āyat al-Kursī.” (Hākim)

Ubayy b. Kaʿb (raḍiy Allāhu ʿanhu) reported that he had a vessel in which he kept dates. He found that its quantity was decreasing. So he kept guard on it one night and saw a creature that resembled an adolescent boy. Ubayy greeted him and he returned his greeting. Ubayy then asked him, “What are you, a jinnī or a human?” He replied, “A jinnī.” So he said to him, “Show me your hand.” So he showed him his hand, and it looked like a dog’s paw with dog’s fur. He said, “This is how the jinn are created. The jinn know that there is no one amongst them who is stronger than me.”

Ubayy asked him, “What caused you to do what you did?” He replied, “We heard that you are a man who loves charity, and we came to take our share from your food.’” Ubayy asked him, “**What will protect us from you**?” He replied, “**Reading Āyah al-Kursī from Sūrah al-Baqarah [i.e. the verse above]. If you read it in the morning, you will be protected from us till the evening. And if you read it in the evening, you will be protected from us till the morning**.”

Ubayy said: “The following morning, I went to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and told him about what had happened. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, “**The evil one spoke the truth.**” (Ḥākim 2108)

Abū Hurayrah (raḍiy Allāhu ʿanhu) reports: “The Messenger of Allah ﷺ put me in charge of watching over the donations of food collected at the end of Ramadhān. Then someone came and snatched some food, and I grabbed him. He said: ‘Let me go. I shall do it no more…’” And he went on to recount the hadīth, saying: “The third time he said to me: ‘I shall teach you some words by which Allah will benefit you. When you lie down in your bed, recite Āyah al-Kursī from beginning to end; a guardian angel will stay by you and no devil will approach you, until you wake up in the morning.’ I tried his method, and when I awoke in the morning, I told the Messenger of Allah ﷺ what he had said, and he ﷺ said to me: ‘Even though he is a liar, he spoke the truth. Do you know who you were talking to Abū Hurayrah?’ I said: ‘No.’ He ﷺ said: ‘That was Shaytān.’” (Bukhārī)
রসূলুল্লাহ ﷺ বলেছেন: “সূরা আল-বাক্বারাহ-এ এমন একটি আয়াত আছে যা কুরআনের শ্রেষ্ঠতম আয়াত। যে ঘরেই এটি পাঠ করা হয়, শয়তান সেই ঘর ছেড়ে চলে যায়: সেটি হলো আয়াতুল কুরসী। (হাকিম)

উবাই ইবনু কা‘আব (রদিয়াল্লাহু আনহু) বর্ণনা করেন যে, তাঁর কাছে খেজুর রাখার একটি পাত্র ছিল। তিনি খেয়াল করেন যে এর (খেজুরের) পরিমাণ কমে যাচ্ছে। তাই তিনি একদিন রাতে পাহারা দিতে থাকেন এবং একজন কিশোর ছেলের মতো একটি প্রাণী দেখতে পান। উবাই তাকে সালাম দেন এবং সে তাঁর উত্তর দেয়। এরপর উবাই তাকে জিজ্ঞেস করেন, “তুমি কে, জিন না মানুষ?” সে উত্তর দেয়, “আমি জিন।” উবাই তখন তাকে বলেন, “আমাকে তোমার হাত দেখাও।” সে তার হাত দেখায়, এবং সেটা দেখতে ছিল কুকুরের থাবার মতো , যার উপর কুকুরের লোম ছিল। সে বলে, “এভাবেই জিনদের সৃষ্টি করা হয়েছে। জিনেরা জানে যে তাদের মধ্যে আমার চেয়ে শক্তিশালী কেউ নেই।”

উবাই তাকে জিজ্ঞেস করেন, “তুমি কেন এমনটা করেছো?” সে জবাব দেয়, “আমরা শুনেছি যে, আপনি একজন দানশীল ব্যক্তি, তাই আমরা আপনার খাবার থেকে আমাদের অংশ নিতে এসেছিলাম।” তাকে উবাই জিজ্ঞেস করেন, “তোমাদের থেকে কিসে আমাদের কিসে রক্ষা করবে?” সে উত্তর দেয়, “সূরা বাক্বারারহ্-এর আয়াতুল কুরসী (অর্থাৎ উপরের আয়াতটি) পাঠ করা। আপনি যদি এটি সকালে পড়েন, তাহলে সন্ধ্যা পর্যন্ত আমাদের থেকে সুরক্ষিত থাকবেন। আর যদি সন্ধ্যায় পড়েন, তাহলে সকাল পর্যন্ত আমাদের থেকে সুরক্ষিত থাকবেন।”

উবাই বলেন: “পরের দিন সকালে আমি রসূলুল্লাহ ﷺ এর কাছে যাই এবং যা ঘটে তা তাকে জানাই। রসূলুল্লাহ ﷺ বলেন, “ঐ দুষ্টটি সত্য বলেছে।**” (হাকিম ২১০৮)
আবূ হুরায়রাহ (রদিয়াল্লাহু ‘আনহু) বর্ণনা করেন: "রসূলুল্লাহ ﷺ আমাকে রমাদানের শেষে সংগৃহীত খাদ্যের যাকাত (সাদাকাতুল ফিতর) পাহারা দেওয়ার দায়িত্ব প্রদান করেন। তারপর একজন লোক আসে এবং কিছু খাদ্য চুরি করতে শুরু করে, আর আমি তাকে ধরে ফেলি। সে বলে: 'আমাকে ছেড়ে দাও। আমি আর কখনও এমন করব না...'" এরপর তিনি সম্পূর্ণ হাদীসটি বর্ণনা করে বলেন: "তৃতীয়বার সে আমাকে বলে: 'আমি তোমাকে কিছু কথা শিখিয়ে দেব যার দ্বারা আল্লাহ তোমাকে উপকৃত করবেন। যখন তুমি তোমার বিছানায় শোবে, তখন তুমি শুরু থেকে শেষ পর্যন্ত আয়াতুল কুরসী তিলাওয়াত করবে; তখন তোমার সঙ্গে [আল্লাহর পক্ষ থেকে] একজন রক্ষক নিযুক্ত থাকবেন এবং সকাল হওয়া পর্যন্ত কোনো শয়তান তোমার নিকটবর্তী হতে পারবেনা।' আমি তার এই পদ্ধতিটি বাস্তবায়ন করি, আর যখন সকালে ঘুম থেকে উঠি, তখন আমি রসূলুল্লাহ ﷺ-কে তার বলা কথাগুলো বলি। তিনি ﷺ আমাকে বলেন: 'যদিও সে চরম মিথ্যাবাদী, তবুও সে সত্য বলেছে। আবূ হুরায়রাহ, তুমি কি জানো কার সাথে তুমি কথা বলছিলে?' আমি বললাম: 'না।' তিনি ﷺ বললেন: 'সে ছিল শয়তান।' (সহীহ বুখারী)

I seek the protection of Allah from the accursed Shayṭān.
Allah, there is no god worthy of worship but He, the Ever Living, The Sustainer of all. Neither drowsiness overtakes Him nor sleep. To Him Alone belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth. Who is it that can intercede with Him except with His permission? He knows what is before them and what will be after them, and they encompass not a thing of His knowledge except for what He wills. His Kursī extends over the heavens and the earth, and their preservation does not tire Him. And He is the Most High, the Magnificent. (2:255)
আমি বিতাড়িত শয়তান থেকে আমি আল্লাহহ্‌র আশ্রয় নিচ্ছি।
প্রার্থনা করছি। আল্লাহহ্, তিনি ছাড়া কোনো সতপ্রকৃত কোন উপাস্য (ইলাহহ্) নেই। তিনি চিরঞ্জীব, সর্বসত্তার ধারক।
চিরস্থায়ী। না তাাঁকে তন্দ্রাও স্পর্শ করতে পারে আর না, নিদ্রাও নয়।
আসমানসমূহে যা রয়েছে ও যমীনে যা রয়ে। আসমান ও জমিনে যা কিছু আছে, সবই তাঁর।
কে সে, কে আছে যে তাাঁর অনুমতি ব্যতীতছাড়া তাাঁর কাছে সুপারিশ করবে?
তাদের সামনে ও পিেছনে যা কিছু আছে, তা সবই তিনি জানেন।
আর যা তিনি যা ইচ্ছো করেন, তা ছাড়া তাাঁর জ্ঞানের কোনো কিছুকেই তারা পরিবেষ্টন থেকে তারা কিছুই আয়ত্ত করতে পারে না।
তাাঁর ‘কুরসী’ি আসমানসমূহ ও যমী ও জমিনকে পরিবব্যাপ্তেষ্টন করে আছে;
। আর এই দুটোয়ের রক্ষণাবেক্ষণ তাাঁর জন্য বোঝা হয়কে ক্লান্ত করে না।
আর তিনিই সসুউচ্চ সুমহান।র্বোচ্চ, মহিমান্বিত। (২:২৫৫)

When creating your account, set your main translation language and make sure to set 'Arabic' as secondary language so that you can see the original text as you are translating.

Assalamu Alaykum Jazakallahu Khayra for volunteering for the Dhikr & Dua Translation project.

We have six translation projects for the app. In order of priority:

  1. App Strings - This is the app locale, i.e. User interface, Settings Page, Menu items etc

  2. Dua Category

  3. Dua Emotion Category

  4. Dua - The Dua & Adhkar Contents

  5. Publications - PDFs of LWA books

  6. FAQs

    • To get you started, create an account on https://translate.lifewithallah.com/accounts/register/

Set your main translation language and make sure to set 'Arabic' as secondary language so that you can see the original text as you are translating.

How to use the translation platform

  1. https://translate.lifewithallah.com/projects/dua-and-zikr/
  2. "Languages" Tab
  3. Choose the Project you would like to Translate
  4. You have the option to review:
  • Untranslated Terms
  • Checks – Where the system has detected any issues
  • Translated
  • Unfinished
  1. For each translation item, the default view allows you to:
  • Translate
  • View Automatic Suggestions – These suggestions are fed by AI, you simply “Clone to Translation” if thetranslation generated is correct.
  • Check other translations for the object

Alternatively, you can translate in ‘Zen’ mode which will open all the translation objects in a list view. This is useful if you have already completed the translation elsewhere.
