Istighfār refers to seeking forgiveness. Along with tawbah (repentance), istighfār should be part of our daily schedule. Our beloved Prophet ﷺ would repeatedly seek forgiveness every day.

Along with being the means to getting our sins forgiven, istighfār removes calamities, dispels anxieties and opens the door of much good.

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “Allah, Exalted is He, said: ‘Son of Ādam, as long as you call upon me and hope in Me, I will forgive you despite what you do, and I do not care. Son of Ādam, even if your sins were to reach to the clouds of the sky, then you seek forgiveness from Me, I will forgive you. Son of Ādam, even if you were to come to Me with nearly an earth full of sins, and then you meet me, not having associated anything with me, then I will surely bring you as much as the earth in forgiveness.’” (Hadīth Qudsī, Tirmidhī)

Ibn Taymiyyah wrote: “Asking for Allah’s forgiveness is more important than all other duʿās.”
يشير الاستغفار إلى طلب المغفرة. إلى جانب الاستغفار، يجب أن يكون الاستغفار جزءًا من جدولنا اليومي إلى جانب التوبة. كان نبينا الحبيب ﷺ يكثر من الاستغفار كل يوم.

وإلى جانب كونه الوسيلة لمغفرة ذنوبنا، فإن الاستغفار يزيل البلاء ويزيل الهموم ويفتح باب خير كثير.

قال رسول الله ﷺ "قَالَ اللَّهُ تَعَالَى: يَا ابْنَ آدَمَ إِنَّكَ مَا دَعَوْتَنِي وَرَجَوْتَنِي غَفَرْتُ لَكَ عَلَى مَا كَانَ مِنْكَ وَلَا أُبَالِي. ابْنَ آدَمَ، وَلَوْ بَلَغَتْ ذُنُوبُكَ عَنَانَ السَّمَاءِ ثُمَّ اسْتَغْفَرْتَنِي غَفَرْتُ لَكَ. يَا ابْنَ آدَمَ إِنَّكَ لَوْ أَتَيْتَنِي بِقُرَابِ الْأَرْضِ خَطَايَا ثُمَّ لَقِيتَنِي لَا تُشْرِكُ بِي شَيْئًا لَأَتَيْتُكَ بِقُرَابِ الْأَرْضِ مَغْفِرَةً" . (حديث قدسي، الترمذي)

قال ابن تيمية: "والاستغفار من الله تعالى أولى من سائر الأدعية".

Remembering Allah is one of the most virtuous actions we can perform. There are some forms of dhikr which are time and context-specific. There are others which are ‘general’ and can be performed at any time and in unlimited quantities. This type of dhikr includes the recitation of the Qur’ān, tahlīl, tasbīḥ, taḥmīd, takbīr, ḥawqalah and the Names of Allah.

Dhikr is one of the greatest actions we can perform. When we remember Allah, He remembers us. Through dhikr, our hearts find true peace. Dhikr is one of the strongest forms of protection against shayṭān, the punishment of Allah, and all evil. Through dhikr, we can get to know Allah, love Him and attain closeness to Him.
ذكر الله من أكثر الأعمال الفاضلة التي يمكن أن نقوم بها. هناك بعض صيغ الذكر التي تكون خاصة بالوقت والسياق. وهناك أشكال أخرى "عامة" يمكن أداؤها في أي وقت وبكميات غير محدودة. ويشمل هذا النوع من الذكر تلاوة القرآن والتهليل والتسبيح والتحميد والتكبير والتهليل والتحميد والتكبير والوقفة وأسماء الله الحسنى.

‘Ruqyah’ refers to treating illnesses through Qur’ānic verses and duʿās, as prescribed by the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. Ruqyah is performed to ask Allah to cure evil eye, magic and physical ailments.

As well as providing a cure, ruqyah is an excellent way for the believers to build their īmān and reaffirm their tawḥīd for Allah.
تشير "الرقية" إلى علاج الأمراض من خلال الآيات القرآنية والأدعية المأثورة عن رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم. والرقية هي طلب الشفاء من الله تعالى من العين والسحر والأمراض الجسدية.

وبالإضافة إلى أن الرقية هي وسيلة ممتازة للمؤمنين لبناء إيمانهم وتأكيد توحيدهم لله تعالى.

If we cannot recite them all, we should be consistent with at least some of them.
الأذكار بعد الصلاة هي الأذكار والأدعية التي تقال بعد الانتهاء من الصلاة كما كان يفعل الحبيب النبي ﷺ. وقد أخبر النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم أن الملائكة تستغفر له وترحمه، وتذكر الله تعالى بعد فراغه من الصلاة.

The practice of the Prophet ﷺ was to vary the adhkār within ṣalāh. Memorising and reciting the different adhkār within your ṣalāh - (particularly in voluntary prayers) - will increase our khushūʿ (humility), help us taste the sweetness of ṣalāh, and assist us to reflect on what we are saying.
أذكار الصلاة عبارة عن مجموعة من الأذكار والأدعية التي شرعها رسولنا الحبيب ﷺ لتلاوتها في مختلف مراحل الصلاة.

وقد كان هدي النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم تنويع الأذكار في الصلوات. فتنويع الأذكار في أذكار الصلاة -لا سيما في صلاة التطوع- يزيدنا خشوعًا، ويساعدنا على تذوق حلاوة الأذكار، ويعيننا على التدبر فيما نقول.

The Qur’ān contains the most important and comprehensive duʿās (supplications), including the duʿās of the Prophets.

The Prophets of Allah were the best of men to have walked upon this earth. None worshipped Allah as they did. None knew Him like they did. And none called upon Him as they did. Each duʿā’ is a masterclass in its own right of how to make duʿā’.

The duʿās of the Prophets are the perfect embodiment of servitude (ʿubūdiyyah) and humility. They contain the blueprint for how a human’s relationship with his Lord should be. Their concise yet comprehensive duʿās encompass everything a human being will ever require for success in this world, and more importantly the eternal life in the hereafter, inshāAllah.
احتواء القرآن الكريم على أهم الأدعية وأشملها، بما في ذلك أدعية الأنبياء.

كَانَ أَنْبِيَاءُ اللَّهِ خَيْرَ مَنْ مَشَى عَلَى هَذِهِ الْأَرْضِ. لم يعبد الله أحد مثلهم. وَلَمْ يَعْرِفْهُ أَحَدٌ كَمَا عَرَفُوهُ. وَلَمْ يَدْعُهُ أَحَدٌ مِثْلَ دُعَائِهِمْ. فَكُلُّ دُعَاءٍ هُوَ دُعَاءٌ مُسْتَقِلٌّ بِنَفْسِهِ فِي كَيْفِيَّةِ الدُّعَاءِ.

فأدعية الأنبياء هي التجسيد الأمثل للعبودية والتواضع، وهي تحتوي على نموذج لكيفية الدعاء. فهي تحتوي على مخطط لكيفية علاقة الإنسان بربه. وقد اشتملت أدعيتهما الموجزة والشاملة في آنٍ واحد على كل ما يحتاجه الإنسان للنجاح في الدنيا، والأهم من ذلك الحياة الأبدية في الآخرة إن شاء الله.

Not to be confused with the five daily prayers, ṣalāh (and its plural ṣalawāt) refer to the servant asking Allah (subḥānahū wa taʿālā) to send all good upon the Messenger ﷺ and praise him amongst the loftiest assembly of angels.

Ṣalāh is often translated as ‘salutation’ or ‘blessing’. However, the word ‘ṣalāh’ encompasses more than that. Ibn Ḥajar (raḥimahullāh) writes: “Salāh also means ‘honour him’ i.e. honour him in the world by elevating his mention, granting victory to his dīn and preserving his sharī‘ah; and honour him in the hereafter by rewarding him abundantly, accepting his intercession on behalf of his ummah and granting him the loftiest station of glory (maqām mahmūd).”

We should invoke ṣalāh on our beloved Messenger of Allah ﷺ as frequently as possible. Similarly, we include it at the beginning of our duʿā’. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “When one of you supplicates, he should start by exalting and praising his Lord, then send ṣalāh on the Prophet ﷺ. Thereafter he should ask for whatever he wants” (Abū Dāwūd).
لا ينبغي الخلط بينها وبين الصلوات الخمس، فالصلاة (وجمعها صلوات) تشير إلى أن العبد يسأل الله سبحانه وتعالى أن يبعث على الرسول صلى الله عليه وسلم كل خير ويثني عليه في الملأ الأعلى من الملائكة.

وَالصَّلَاةُ تُطْلَقُ غَالِبًا عَلَى التَّحِيَّةِ وَالصَّلَاةِ. ومع ذلك، فإن كلمة "صلاته" تشمل أكثر من ذلك. يقول ابن حجر (رحمه الله): "ومعنى "صلى الله عليه وسلم": أكرمه أي أكرمه في الدنيا بإعلاء ذكره ونصر دينه وحفظ شريعته، وأكرمه في الآخرة بإجزال ثوابه وقبول شفاعته في أمته وإنزاله المقام المحمود".

فينبغي أن نكثر من الصلاة على حبيبنا رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم ما استطعنا إلى ذلك سبيلا. وَكَذَلِكَ نَذْكُرُهُ فِي أَوَّلِ دُعَائِنَا. قال رسول الله ﷺ " إِذَا دَعَا أَحَدُكُمْ فَلْيَبْدَأْ بِتَمْجِيدِ رَبِّهِ وَالثَّنَاءِ عَلَيْهِ ثُمَّ يُصَلِّي عَلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ ثُمَّ يَدْعُو بِمَا شَاءَ " أخرجه أبو داود
