O Allah, forgive me for what I did in earnestness and in jest; unintentionally or intentionally; as I have committed all of these (types of sins). ʿAbdullāh b. Masʿud (raḍiy Allāhu ʿanhu) narrated that the Prophet ﷺ hosted a guest so he sent a request for food from his wives but it was not found by any of them. So he said [the above]. He was then gifted a roasted lamb. He said, “This is from the bounty of Allah and we await His Mercy.” (Tabarāni in Mu’jam al-Kabir 10379)

He then said: لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا ٱللَّهُ (There is no god but Allah) three times; and: اللَّهُ أَكْبَرُ كَبِيرًا (Allah is altogether great) three times. He then said: أَعُوذُ بِاللَّهِ السَّمِيعِ الْعَلِيمِ مِنَ الشَّيْطَانِ الرَّجِيمِ مِنْ هَمْزِهِ وَنَفْخِهِ وَنَفْثِهِ (I seek refuge in Allah, the All-Hearing and All-Knowing from the accursed devil, from his evil whisper, from his blowing, and from his spitting.” He then recited (the Qur’an).
