<p>When we have to undertake a project, we invest a great deal of effort and time into ensuring the project will be successful. Projects are initiated, then planned out, then executed and monitored. And once they are completed, they are evaluated.</p>
<p>If we can do this for projects at work, then surely the ‘project’ of Ramaḍān is far greater. As people seeking the pleasure of Allah and Paradise, Ramaḍān is the ‘<strong>dream project</strong>’ that has landed effortlessly on our desks.</p>
<p>In order to prepare a plan which will help us to successfully complete this project, we have to be clear about its goals. These goals will provide the framework of a successful Ramaḍān. Everything we do in Ramaḍān should lead to the following goals:</p>
<h2>The Goals of Ramadan</h2>
<p><strong>1. Increase and strengthen your īmān</strong></p>
<p>Ramaḍān is the perfect opportunity to rejuvenate our īmān and accelerate our journey to Allah. We should strive to increase our īmān in Allah by increasing in our <strong>maʿrifah</strong> (knowledge) of Him, <strong>love</strong> for Him, fear of Him, hope in Him, trust in Him and sincerity to Him. Our īmān in Allah’s Angels, Prophets, Books, the Last Day and al-Qadr should also increase.</p>
<p><strong>2. Embody servitude (ʿubūdiyyah) and submission</strong></p>
<p>Ramaḍān is the training ground to develop ʿubūdiyyah: where we becomes true servants of Allah through our <strong>constant humility</strong> and awe of him, and always expressing our dire need of Him. We can speed up our journey to Allah by <strong>infusing all our physical acts of worship with the quality of ʿūbūdiyyah</strong>. In our everyday lives, we are accustomed to giving in to our desires. If we feel like eating, we eat. If we feel like drinking, we drink. Through Ramaḍān, we should aim to train the nafs (inner self) to <strong>submit</strong> itself to Allah, and to <strong>comply</strong> with His commands.</p>
<p><strong>3. Taste the sweetness of worship</strong></p>
<p>The goal of Ramaḍān should not be to just perform x number of good deeds. Every act of worship in Islam consists of both an outer manifestation (‘action of the limb’) and an <strong>inner reality</strong> (‘action of the heart’), which is its <strong>essence</strong> and core. We should aim to focus on these inner dimensions, through which we will taste the sweetness of worship inshāAllah.</p>
<p><strong>4. Purify your heart</strong></p>
<p>One of the aims of Ramaḍān is to elevate the soul to its intended station: <strong>the tranquil soul</strong>. Ramaḍān is the perfect time to purify the heart from diseases such as envy, hatred, pride, anger, hypocrisy, hard-heartedness. When the heart is purified, it is less susceptible to the whispers of shayṭān, and more able to defend itself from doubts (shubuhāt) and desires (shahawāt).</p>
<p><strong>5. Develop good character</strong></p>
<p>Excellent character is an integral part of our dīn, and there is no better time to cultivate this than in Ramaḍān. Our beloved Prophet ﷺ said, “When one of you enters the morning in the state of fasting, he should <strong>neither use obscene language nor act ignorantly</strong>. If anyone insults him or argues with him, he should say: ‘I am fasting, I am fasting’” (Muslim). Ramaḍān is the perfect time to become the best of Allah’s servants: those who bring the most benefit to others, those who treat their parents, spouses, children, families and wider communities with kindness and excellence.</p>
<p><strong>6. Become attached to the Qur’ān and the night prayer</strong></p>
<p>Whilst the primary purpose of fasting is to gain taqwā, the purpose of Ramaḍān is to connect with the Qur’ān. Ramaḍān <strong>is</strong> the month of the Qur’ān. The Qur’ān is guidance, which is supposed to mould our lives. It is not merely to be beautifully recited. The recitation of the Qur’ān is supposed to increase our īmān and deepen the love and awe of Allah in our hearts. This will only occur if we recite with deliberation and reflection.</p>
<p>Qiyām at night is one of the greatest acts of worship a servant can perform. It brings with it a sweetness which is nearly impossible to experience otherwise. By the time Ramaḍān ends, we should aim for the night prayer to become a habit so that we can make it part of our everyday lives throughout the year.</p>
<p><strong>7. Bring your heart to your ṣalāh, dhikr &amp; duʿā’</strong></p>
<p>Ramaḍān is the perfect time to develop and train ourselves to perform ṣalāh, dhikr and duʿā’ with <strong>excellence</strong>. We should set specific goals in relation to how we are going to improve in each one e.g. increase khushūʿ, recite the morning and evening adhkār with deep reflection, duʿā’ for a longer duration, and so on.</p>
<p><strong>8. Develop consistency</strong></p>
<p>Ramaḍān is a bootcamp for cultivating our hearts, souls, morals and ultimately our lives, so that the obedience of Allah becomes our lifestyle. We should worship Allah in Ramaḍān with the mindset that our efforts are not limited to Ramaḍān; rather we want to <strong>transform our lives</strong> through it and make it a consistent part of our lives.</p>
<p><strong>9. Attain Allah’s forgiveness, freedom from Hell-fire &amp; entry into Paradise</strong></p>
<p>There are endless opportunities to be forgiven in Ramaḍān, gain freedom from Hell-fire and be admitted into Paradise. We should be <strong>determined</strong> to not miss out on any of these opportunities.</p>
<p><strong>10. Tame your nafs to stay away from sins and attain taqwā</strong></p>
<p>One of the key goals of Ramaḍān is to tame the nafs and stop sinning. By refusing your nafs what it desires (food, drink, sleep), you develop self-control. This greater level of self-control should help you the next time you are tempted to sin.</p>
<p>Ramaḍān is the time to <strong>elevate the soul from its base desires</strong> (stomach and private parts). Aim for your fasting and Ramaḍān to remove the love of the world from your heart; and let your soul soar high above the ground, away from the body, and upwards towards its Creator and Originator.</p>
<p>A large number of goals can feel overwhelming. However, once you have understood the overall goals, do a self-analysis as to where you currently are and what you would like to focus on. Everyone is on their own unique journey. Perhaps you already perform the 5 daily prayers punctually, but your target is to build up a daily habit of ṣalāh al-ḍuḥā. Or perhaps you don’t struggle with envy, but you do struggle with anger, so you can focus on managing your anger this Ramaḍān.</p>
<h2>Ramadan: The Battle Against the Nafs</h2>
<p>Think of Ramaḍān as a battlefield. The enemy you are trying to defeat is your nafs. It is an enemy which has conquered you many times over in the past. This Ramaḍān, however, you are determined that <strong>by the help of Allah, you are going to conquer it</strong>. You are going to be the winner, and not the loser. This will require planning, effort, tonnes of <strong>duʿā’</strong> and perhaps even a change in strategy.</p>
<p>One such strategy is to manoeuvre around your nafs, and subtly trick it. When you are struggling to keep momentum, say to yourself: <em>just a little while longer. After Ramaḍān, you can go back to enjoying the ḥalāl pleasures. For now, just keep going for a little while longer</em>. Once, Bishr al-Ḥāfī (raḥimahullāh) was walking with one of his companions towards a city. His companion wanted to drink water from a well. Bishr said to him, “We will drink from the next well that appears on the way.” Every time they would approach a well, Bishr would say, “From the next well.” When they finally reached their destination, Bishr said, “This is how we journey through the world.”</p>

<p>We ask Allah al-Ḥayy (The Ever-Living), al-Qayyūm (The All-Sustainer) to make this Ramaḍān our best Ramaḍān, and we ask Him to not entrust us to ourselves for even the blink of an eye.</p>

Pour nous qui recherchons l’agrément d’Allah et le Paradis, Ramaḍān est le ‘<strong>projet de rêve</strong>’ qui s’est offert à nous, sans le moindre effort de notre part.</p>
<p>Afin de préparer un plan qui nous aidera à mener ce projet à bien, nous devons être clairs quant à ses objectifs. Ces objectifs constitueront le cadre d’un Ramaḍān réussi. Tout ce que nous faisons durant Ramaḍān doit nous conduire vers les objectifs suivants :</p>

<p>Sometimes, even after observing the etiquettes of duʿā&rsquo;, we may feel our duʿā&rsquo; remains unanswered. In such cases, it&rsquo;s vital to reflect:&nbsp;<strong>is something preventing our duʿāʾ from being accepted?</strong></p>

<p>The Prophet ﷺ would seek Allah&rsquo;s protection&nbsp;<strong>from a duʿā&rsquo; that is not accepted:</strong></p>

<h5>اَللّٰهُمَّ إِنِّىْ أَعُوْذُ بِكَ مِنْ عِلْمٍ لَّا يَنْفَعُ ، وَمِنْ قَلْبٍ لَّا يَخْشَعُ ، وَمِنْ نَّفْسٍ لَّا تَشْبَعُ ، وَمِنْ دَعْوَةٍ لَّا يُسْتَجَابُ لَهَا</h5>

<p>O Allah, I seek Your protection from knowledge that does not benefit, from a heart that does not humble itself, from a soul that is not satisfied, and from a supplication that is not accepted (Muslim).</p>

<p>Below are the most common obstacles that prevent our duʿā&rsquo; from being accepted:</p>

<h2>Impatience and Losing Hope</h2>

<p>The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, &ldquo;The duʿā&rsquo; of every one of you is accepted as long as he does not grow&nbsp;<strong>impatient</strong>&nbsp;and says, &lsquo;I made duʿā&rsquo; but it was not accepted&rsquo;&rdquo; (Muslim).</p>

<p><strong>We should never set a time limit</strong>&nbsp;on when Allah will respond. While He is al-Mujīb (The Responder), He is also al-Ḥakīm (The Wise). Sometimes, we may dislike something, yet Allah places goodness within it; and at other times, we may desire something that ultimately harms us.</p>

<p>Even after prolonged supplications and patience, we should not think that our duʿā&rsquo; has been rejected. We should ignore the demoralising whispers of Shayṭān, remain optimistic and think well of Allah ﷻ. &ldquo;Allah (ʿazza wa jall) says, &lsquo;<strong>I am just as My servant thinks I am</strong>&nbsp;and I am with him when he remembers Me&rsquo;&rdquo; (Bukhārī).</p>

<p>Shayṭān seizes every chance to lead a servant away from worship, and what better opportunity than when a duʿāʾ appears unanswered? As the believer cries out to his Lord with humility,&nbsp;<strong>Shayṭān whispers doubt into his heart:</strong>&nbsp;&ldquo;Where is your answer? Why hasn&rsquo;t Allah responded?&rdquo; In such moments, it is crucial to recognise this whisper for what it is,&nbsp;<strong>a trap</strong>, and to firmly resist it. Do not lose hope in Allah. The delay is not rejection, but a test of your trust, patience, and persistence.</p>

<p><strong>&ldquo;When Shayṭān comes and says, &lsquo;How many times do you call upon Him without seeing a response?&rsquo; say: &lsquo;I worship through my duʿā&rsquo;.&rdquo; &ndash; Ibn al-Jawzī (raḥimahullāh)</strong></p>

<p>Ibn al-Qayyim (raḥimahullāh) said, &ldquo;Among the afflictions that prevent a duʿā&rsquo; from taking effect is when a person becomes hasty and impatient for a response. He grows weary and gives up making duʿā&rsquo;. This is like someone who sows a seed or plants a tree, tends to it and waters it, but when he does not see it growing as quickly as he wishes, he abandons it and neglects it.</p>

<p>Mu&rsquo;arriq al-ʿIjlī (raḥimahullāh) said, &ldquo;I asked my Lord for something for twenty years: it was not granted to me and I&nbsp;<strong>never gave up hope of it</strong>.&rdquo;</p>

<h2>Consuming Haram</h2>

<p>One of the gravest obstacles to an accepted duʿāʾ is&nbsp;<strong>unlawful consumption</strong>. Though the limbs follow the heart, the heart is also influenced by the actions of the limbs. Eating what is ḥalal (permissible) brings light and purity to the heart, while consuming ḥarām (forbidden) or doubtful things corrupts, hardens, and darkens it.</p>

<p>The Prophet ﷺ said: &ldquo;O people! Indeed, Allah is Pure and&nbsp;<strong>only accepts that which is pure</strong>. And Allah has commanded the believers with what He commanded the Messengers, saying: &lsquo;O Messengers, eat from the good things and act righteously. Indeed, I am All-Knowing of what you do&rsquo; (23: 51). And He said: &lsquo;O you who believe, eat from the good things We have provided for you&rsquo; (1:172). Then he mentioned a man who&nbsp;<strong>travels far</strong>, dishevelled and dusty, raising his hands to the sky saying, &lsquo;O my Lord, O my Lord,&rsquo; but his food is unlawful, his drink is unlawful, his clothing is unlawful, and he has been nourished with the unlawful;&nbsp;<strong>so how can his (duʿā&rsquo;) be answered?!</strong>&rdquo; (Muslim).</p>

<p>This man outwardly displays&nbsp;<strong>several qualities</strong>&nbsp;that would normally lead to the acceptance of duʿāʾ. He is&nbsp;<strong>travelling a long distance</strong>, and a traveller&rsquo;s supplication is more readily accepted. His&nbsp;<strong>humility</strong>&nbsp;is evident in his dishevelled state. He&nbsp;<strong>raises his hands</strong>&nbsp;in earnest supplication and&nbsp;<strong>persistently</strong>&nbsp;calls upon Allah, saying &ldquo;<strong>Yā Rabb</strong>.&rdquo; Yet despite these outward signs of sincerity, his duʿāʾ is still not accepted because his food, drink, and sustenance come from&nbsp;<strong>ḥarām</strong>&nbsp;sources.</p>

<p>Ibn Rajab (raḥimahullāh) explained, &ldquo;As for what prevents the acceptance of duʿā&rsquo;, the Prophet ﷺ pointed out that indulgence in the unlawful &mdash; whether in food, drink, clothing, or sustenance &mdash; is a major cause. This is also supported by the ḥadīth of Ibn ʿAbbās (radiy Allāhu ʿanhumā), and when the Prophet ﷺ said to Saʿd&nbsp;(raḍiy Allāhu ʿanhu), &lsquo;<strong>Purify your food and you will be one whose duʿā&rsquo; is answered</strong>.&rsquo; Thus, consuming ḥalāl food, drink and clothing is a key reason for the acceptance of duʿā&rsquo;.&rdquo;</p>

<p>The Companions of the Prophet ﷺ gave immense importance to consuming only what was ḥalāl, and were deeply cautious about avoiding anything ḥarām. They knew that what entered the body had a direct effect on the heart, actions, and acceptance of duʿā&rsquo;.</p>

<p>Sahl b. ʿAbdillāh (raḥimahullāh) said: &ldquo;Whoever&nbsp;<strong>eats ḥalāl for forty days</strong>, his duʿā&rsquo; will be answered.&rdquo;</p>

<h2>Neglecting Commanding Good and Forbidding Evil</h2>

<p>Allah ﷻ has honoured this ummah with superiority over other nations because it enjoins good and forbids wrong: &ldquo;You are the&nbsp;<strong>best nation</strong>&nbsp;produced for mankind: you&nbsp;<strong>enjoin</strong>&nbsp;what is right and&nbsp;<strong>forbid</strong>&nbsp;what is wrong and believe in Allah&rdquo; (3:110).</p>

<p>The Messenger of Allah ﷺ made this a personal obligation upon every member of this ummah, according to their ability. He ﷺ said, &ldquo;Whoever among you sees an evil, let him change it with his&nbsp;<strong>hand</strong>. If he is unable, then with his&nbsp;<strong>tongue</strong>. And if he is unable, then with his&nbsp;<strong>heart</strong>; and that is the&nbsp;<strong>weakest level of faith</strong>&rdquo; (Muslim).</p>

<p>He ﷺ warned us, &ldquo;By the One in whose hand is my soul, you must enjoin what is right and forbid what is wrong, or else&nbsp;<strong>Allah will soon send upon you a punishment from Him</strong>. Then you will supplicate to Him, but your supplication will&nbsp;<strong>not be accepted</strong>&rdquo; (Tirmidhī).</p>

<p>This ḥadīth highlights that neglecting this obligation not only invites divine punishment but also lead to a devastating outcome:&nbsp;<strong>our duʿāʾ no longer being accepted</strong>.</p>

<h2>Sins: The Greatest Barrier</h2>

<p>Sins are the greatest barrier to an accepted duʿā&rsquo;. Ibn Rajab (raḥimahullāh) explained: &ldquo;Committing&nbsp;<strong>ḥarām</strong>&nbsp;acts and neglecting obligatory duties can also cause duʿā&rsquo; to be&nbsp;<strong>rejected</strong>. For instance, abandoning&nbsp;<strong>enjoining good and forbidding evil</strong>&nbsp;is mentioned in the ḥadīth as something that prevents the acceptance of duʿā&rsquo; of righteous people. On the other hand,&nbsp;<strong>acts of obedience and righteous deeds</strong>&nbsp;are among the greatest causes for duʿā&rsquo; to be answered. This is why, when the three men were trapped in the cave and the rock blocked their exit, they&nbsp;<strong>invoked Allah by their sincere righteous deeds</strong>, Allah answered their duʿā&rsquo;.&rdquo;</p>

<p>ʿUmar (raḍiy Allāhu ʿanhu) said: &ldquo;<strong>By abstaining from what Allah has forbidden</strong>, Allah accepts supplication and glorification.&rdquo;</p>

<p>Musā (ʿalayhis-salām) once saw a man raising his hands and earnestly asking Allah. So Musā (ʿalayhis-salām) said, &ldquo;O Lord, Your servant is supplicating to You until I have felt mercy for him. You are the Most Merciful of the merciful: What have You done about his need?&rdquo; Allah said, &ldquo;O Musā, if he raises his hands until they fall off, I will not look into his need&nbsp;<strong>until he looks into My right</strong>&nbsp;(i.e. My due).&rdquo;</p>

<h2>Ten Things Blocking Your Duʿa</h2>

<p><strong>Ibrāhīm b. Adham (raḥimahullāh) was asked: &ldquo;Why is it that we supplicate, yet our prayers are not answered?&rdquo;<br />
He replied:<br />
&ldquo;Because you know Allah, yet you do not obey Him.<br />
You know the Messenger ﷺ, yet you do not follow his Sunnah.<br />
You know the Qur&rsquo;ān, yet you do not act upon it.<br />
You consume Allah&rsquo;s blessings, yet you do not show gratitude.<br />
You know Paradise, yet you do not seek it.<br />
You know the Fire, yet you do not flee from it.<br />
You know Shayṭān, yet you do not oppose him; rather, you agree with him.<br />
You know death, yet you do not prepare for it.<br />
You bury the dead, yet you take no lesson from it.<br />
You ignore your own faults and busy yourselves with the faults of others.&rdquo;</strong></p>
<p>Por vezes, mesmo depois de observarmos as etiquetas da duʿā&rsquo;, podemos sentir que a nossa duʿā&rsquo; continua sem resposta. Nesses casos, é&rsquo;vital refletir:&nbsp;<strong>há algo que impeça a nossa duʿāʾ de ser aceite?</strong></p>

<p>O Profeta ﷺ procuraria a proteção de Allah&rsquo;s&nbsp;<strong>de uma duʿā&rsquo; que não é aceite:</strong></p>

<h5>اَللّٰهُمَّ إِنِّىْ أَعُوْذُ بِكَ مِنْ عِلْمٍ لَّا يَنْفَعُ ، وَمِنْ قَلْبٍ لَّا يَخْشَعُ ، وَمِنْ نَّفْسٍ لَّا تَشْبَعُ ، وَمِنْ دَعْوَةٍ لَّا يُسْتَجَابُ لَهَا</h5>

<p>Ó Allah, Procuro a Tua proteção contra o conhecimento que não beneficia, contra um coração que não se humilha, contra uma alma que não está satisfeita, e contra uma súplica que não é aceite (Muslim).</p>

<p>Abaixo estão os obstáculos mais comuns que impedem a nossa duʿā&rsquo; de ser aceite:</p>

<h2>Impaciência e Perda de Esperança</h2>

<p>O Mensageiro de Allah ﷺ disse, &ldquo;A duʿā&rsquo; de cada um de vós é aceite desde que não fique&nbsp;<strong>impaciente</strong>&nbsp;e diga, &lsquo;Fiz duʿā&rsquo; mas não foi aceite&rsquo;&rdquo; (Muslim).</p>

<p><strong>Nunca devemos estabelecer um limite de tempo</strong>&nbsp;sobre quando Allah responderá. Embora Ele seja al-Mujīb (O Respondedor), Ele também é al-Ḥakīm (O Sábio). Às vezes, podemos não gostar de algo, mas Alá coloca bondade nele; e outras vezes, podemos desejar algo que acaba por nos prejudicar.</p>

<p>Mesmo depois de súplicas prolongadas e paciência, não devemos pensar que a nossa duʿā&rsquo; foi rejeitada. Devemos ignorar os sussurros desmoralizantes de Shayṭān, permanecer optimistas e pensar bem de Allah ﷻ. &ldquo;Allah (ʿazza wa jall) diz: &lsquo;<strong>Eu sou tal como o Meu servo pensa que sou</strong>&nbsp;e estou com ele quando se lembra de Mim&rsquo;&rdquo; (Bukhārī).</p>

<p>Shayṭān aproveita todas as oportunidades para afastar o servo da adoração, e que melhor oportunidade do que quando uma duʿāʾ aparece sem resposta? Quando o crente clama ao seu Senhor com humildade,&nbsp;<strong>Shayṭān sussurra a dúvida no seu coração:</strong>&nbsp;&ldquo; Onde está a tua resposta? Porque é que&rsquo;Alá não respondeu?&rdquo; Nestes momentos, é crucial reconhecer este sussurro pelo que é,&nbsp;<strong>uma armadilha</strong>, e resistir-lhe com firmeza. Não percas a esperança em Alá. A demora não é rejeição, mas um teste à tua confiança, paciência e persistência.</p>

<p><strong>&ldquo; Quando Shayṭān vier e disser: &lsquo;Quantas vezes O invocais sem ver uma resposta?&rsquo; diz: &lsquo;Eu adoro através da minha duʿā&rsquo;.&rdquo; &ndash; Ibn al-Jawzī (raḥimahullāh)</strong></p>

<p>Ibn al-Qayyim (raḥimahullāh) disse, &ldquo;Entre as aflições que impedem uma duʿā&rsquo; de ter efeito é quando uma pessoa se torna apressada e impaciente por uma resposta. Fica cansada e desiste de fazer duʿā&rsquo;. Isto é como alguém que semeia uma semente ou planta uma árvore, cuida dela e rega-a, mas quando não a vê crescer tão rapidamente como deseja, abandona-a e negligencia-a.</p>

<p>Mu&rsquo;arriq al-ʿIjlī (raḥimahullāh) disse: &ldquo;Pedi algo ao meu Senhor durante vinte anos: não me foi concedido e eu&nbsp;<strong>nunca perdi a esperança disso</strong>.&rdquo;</p>

<h2>Consumir Haram</h2>

<p>Um dos mais graves obstáculos a uma duʿāʾ aceite é o&nbsp;<strong>consumo ilegal</strong>. Embora os membros sigam o coração, o coração também é influenciado pelas acções dos membros. Comer o que é ḥalal (permissível) traz luz e pureza ao coração, enquanto que consumir ḥarām (proibido) ou coisas duvidosas corrompe-o, endurece-o e escurece-o.</p>

<p>O Profeta ﷺ disse: &ldquo;Ó povo! Em verdade, Allah é Puro e&nbsp;<strong>só aceita o que é puro</strong>. E Deus ordenou aos fiéis o mesmo que ordenou aos mensageiros, dizendo: &lsquo;Ó Mensageiros, comei do que é bom e agi retamente. Em verdade, sou Onisciente de tudo quanto fazeis&rsquo; (23:51). E disse: &lsquo;Ó fiéis, comei do bem que vos proporcionamos&rsquo; (1:172). Em seguida, ele mencionou um homem que&nbsp;<strong>viaja para longe</strong>, desgrenhado e empoeirado, levantando as mãos para o céu dizendo: &lsquo;Ó meu Senhor, ó meu Senhor,&rsquo; mas sua comida é ilegal, sua bebida é ilegal, sua roupa é ilegal, e ele foi alimentado com o ilegal;&nbsp;<strong>então como pode o seu (duʿā&rsquo;) ser respondido?</strong>&rdquo; (Muslim).</p>

<p>Este homem exibe exteriormente&nbsp;<strong>várias qualidades</strong>&nbsp;que normalmente levariam à aceitação da duʿāʾ. Ele está&nbsp;<strong>a viajar uma longa distância</strong>, e uma súplica de um viajante&rsquo;é mais facilmente aceite. A sua&nbsp;<strong>humildade</strong>&nbsp;é evidente no seu estado desgrenhado. Ele&nbsp;<strong>levanta as mãos</strong>&nbsp;em súplica sincera e&nbsp;<strong>invoca persistentemente Alá</strong>&nbsp;, dizendo &ldquo;<strong>Yā Rabb</strong>.&rdquo; No entanto, apesar destes sinais exteriores de sinceridade, a sua duʿāʾ ainda não é aceite porque a sua comida, bebida e sustento vêm de&nbsp;<strong>ḥarām</strong>&nbsp;fontes.</p>

<p>Ibn Rajab (raḥimahullāh) explicou, &ldquo;Quanto ao que impede a aceitação da duʿā&rsquo;, o Profeta ﷺ apontou que a indulgência no ilegal &mdash; seja em comida, bebida, roupas ou sustento &mdash; é uma causa importante. Isto também é apoiado pelo ḥadīth de Ibn ʿAbbās (radiy Allāhu ʿanhumā), e quando o Profeta ﷺ disse a Saʿd&nbsp;(raḍiy Allāhu ʿanhu), &lsquo;<strong>Purifica a tua comida e serás aquele cujo duʿā&rsquo; é respondido</strong>.&rsquo; Assim, consumir alimentos, bebidas e roupas ḥalāl é uma razão fundamental para a aceitação da duʿā&rsquo;.&rdquo;</p>

<p>Os Companheiros do Profeta ﷺ davam imensa importância a consumir apenas o que era ḥalāl, e eram profundamente cautelosos em evitar qualquer coisa ḥarām. Eles sabiam que o que entrava no corpo tinha um efeito direto no coração, nas ações e na aceitação da duʿā&rsquo;.</p>

<p>Sahl b. ʿAbdillāh (raḥimahullāh) disse: &ldquo;Quem quer que&nbsp;<strong>coma ḥalāl por quarenta dias</strong>, sua duʿā&rsquo; será respondida.&rdquo;</p>

<h2>Negligenciando o comando do bem e proibindo o mal</h2>

<p>Allah ﷻ honrou esta ummah com superioridade sobre outras nações porque ela ordena o bem e proíbe o mal: &ldquo;Vocês são a&nbsp;<strong>melhor nação</strong>&nbsp;produzida para a humanidade: vocês&nbsp;<strong>ordenam</strong>&nbsp;o que é certo e&nbsp;<strong>proíbem</strong>&nbsp;o que é errado e acreditam em Allah&rdquo; (3:110).</p>

<p>O Mensageiro de Allah ﷺ fez disto uma obrigação pessoal para cada membro desta ummah, de acordo com a sua capacidade. Ele ﷺ disse: &ldquo;Quem de vós vir um mal, que o mude com a sua&nbsp;<strong>mão</strong>. Se não puder, então com a&nbsp;<strong>língua</strong>. E se não for capaz, então com o seu&nbsp;<strong>coração</strong>; e esse é o&nbsp;<strong>nível mais fraco de fé</strong>&rdquo; (muçulmano).</p>

<p>Ele ﷺ advertiu-nos, &ldquo;Por Aquele em cujas mãos está a minha alma, deveis ordenar o que é certo e proibir o que é errado, ou então&nbsp;<strong>Allah em breve enviará sobre vós um castigo d'Ele</strong>. Então, suplicar-Lhe-eis, mas a vossa súplica&nbsp;<strong>não será aceite</strong>&rdquo; (Tirmidhī).</p>

<p>Este ḥadīth realça que negligenciar esta obrigação não só convida ao castigo divino, como também conduz a um resultado devastador:&nbsp;<strong>a nossa duʿāʾ deixar de ser aceite</strong>.</p>

<h2>Pecados: A Maior Barreira</h2>

<p>Os pecados são a maior barreira para uma duʿā aceite&rsquo;. Ibn Rajab (raḥimahullāh) explicou: &ldquo;Cometer&nbsp;<strong>ḥarām</strong>&nbsp;actos e negligenciar deveres obrigatórios também pode fazer com que a duʿā&rsquo; seja&nbsp;<strong>rejeitada</strong>. Por exemplo, o abandono de&nbsp;<strong>ordenar o bem e proibir o mal</strong>&nbsp;é mencionado no ḥadīth como algo que impede a aceitação da duʿā&rsquo; de pessoas justas. Por outro lado,&nbsp;<strong>atos de obediência e ações justas</strong>&nbsp;estão entre as maiores causas para que a duʿā&rsquo; seja respondida. É por isso que, quando os três homens estavam presos na caverna e a rocha bloqueou sua saída, eles&nbsp;<strong>invocaram Allah por suas sinceras ações justas</strong>, Allah respondeu à sua duʿā&rsquo;.&rdquo;</p>

<p>ʿUmar (raḍiy Allāhu ʿanhu) disse: &ldquo;<strong>Ao abster-se do que Allah proibiu</strong>, Allah aceita a súplica e a glorificação.&rdquo;</p>

<p>Musā (ʿalayhis-salām) uma vez viu um homem levantando as mãos e pedindo sinceramente a Allah. Então Musā (ʿalayhis-salām) disse: &ldquo;Ó Senhor, o Teu servo está a suplicar-Te até que eu tenha sentido misericórdia dele. Tu és o mais misericordioso dos misericordiosos: Que fizeste em relação à sua necessidade?&rdquo; Deus disse: &ldquo;Ó Moisés, se ele erguer as mãos até que estas caiam, não atenderei à sua necessidade&nbsp;<strong>até que ele atenda ao Meu direito</strong>&nbsp;(isto é, ao Meu direito).&rdquo;</p>

<h2>Dez coisas que bloqueiam a tua Duʿa</h2>

<p><strong> Perguntou-se a Ibrāhīm b. Adham (raḥimahullāh): &ldquo;Por que é que suplicamos, mas as nossas orações não são atendidas?&rdquo;<br />
Ele respondeu:<br />
&ldquo;Porque conheceis Alá, mas não Lhe obedeceis.<br />
Conheceis o Mensageiro ﷺ, mas não seguis a sua Sunnah.<br />
&rsquo;Conheceis o Alcorão, mas não o põem em prática.<br />
Consumis as bênçãos de Alá&rsquo;, mas não mostrais gratidão.<br />
Conheceis o Paraíso, mas não o procurais.<br />
Conheceis o Fogo, mas não fogeis dele.<br />
Conheces Shayṭān, mas não te opões a ele; pelo contrário, concordas com ele.<br />
Conheceis a morte, mas não vos preparais para ela.<br />
Enterrais os mortos, mas não tirais nenhuma lição disso.<br />
Ignorais as vossas próprias faltas e ocupais-vos com as faltas dos outros.&rdquo;</strong></p>
