  5. Publications - PDFs of LWA books
  6. FAQs

When creating your account, set your main translation language and make sure to set 'Arabic' as secondary language so that you can see the original text as you are translating.

Istighfār refers to seeking forgiveness. Along with tawbah (repentance), istighfār should be part of our daily schedule. Our beloved Prophet ﷺ would repeatedly seek forgiveness every day.

Along with being the means to getting our sins forgiven, istighfār removes calamities, dispels anxieties and opens the door of much good.

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “Allah, Exalted is He, said: ‘Son of Ādam, as long as you call upon me and hope in Me, I will forgive you despite what you do, and I do not care. Son of Ādam, even if your sins were to reach to the clouds of the sky, then you seek forgiveness from Me, I will forgive you. Son of Ādam, even if you were to come to Me with nearly an earth full of sins, and then you meet me, not having associated anything with me, then I will surely bring you as much as the earth in forgiveness.’” (Hadīth Qudsī, Tirmidhī)

Ibn Taymiyyah wrote: “Asking for Allah’s forgiveness is more important than all other duʿās.”
Istigẖfār bedeutet, umGottes Vergebung zu bitten. Zusammensuchen. Gemeinsam mit der Tawbah (aufrichtiger Reue) sollte Istigẖfār Tein fester Bestandteil unseres TagesablaufAlltags sein. Unser geliebter Prophet ﷺ hatsuchte jeden Tag wiederholt um Vergebung gebeten.

Abgesehen davon, dass es das Mittel ist, umimmer wieder die Vergebung Allahs.

Neben der Tatsache, dass Istig̱fār ein Mittel zur Vergebung unserer Sünden vergeben zu bekommen, beseitigt istighfār Unheil, vertreibtist, vertreibt es auch Unglücke, nimmt Sorgen und Ängste und öffnet die Tür zu vielem Gutemn.

Der Gesandte Allahs ﷺ sagberichtete: „Allah, der Erhabene, sagte: 'Sohn von ĀAdams, solange du mdich anrufst und auf mich Mich wendest und auf Meine Barmherzigkeit hoffst, werde ivergebe Ich dir vergeben, egal was du tust, und es ist mir egal– ganz gleich, was du getan hast – und es belastet Mich nicht. Sohn ĀAdams, selbst wenn deine Sünden bis zu den Wolken des Himmels reichen würden, wenn du mich umden Himmel berühren würden und du dann Meine Vergebung bittesuchst, weürde iIch dir vergeben. Sohn von ĀAdams, selbst wenn du mit beinahe einerSünden zu Mir kommst, die fast die ganzen Erde voller Sünden zu mir kämstfüllen, und du mMir dann begegnest, ohne mir irgendetwas gleichMir etwas beizugestellt zu haben, dann werde iIch dir sicherlich so viel wie die Erde angewiss in gleichem Maße Vergebung bringschenken.“ (Hadīth (Ḥadīṯ Qudsī, at-Tirmidhḏī)

Ibn Taymiyyah schrieb: „Die Bitte um Allahs um Vergebung zu bitten ist wichtiger als allejedes anderen Duʿāsʼ.“
