When creating your account, set your main translation language and make sure to set 'Arabic' as secondary language so that you can see the original text as you are translating.

Istighfār refers to seeking forgiveness. Along with tawbah (repentance), istighfār should be part of our daily schedule. Our beloved Prophet ﷺ would repeatedly seek forgiveness every day.

Along with being the means to getting our sins forgiven, istighfār removes calamities, dispels anxieties and opens the door of much good.

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “Allah, Exalted is He, said: ‘Son of Ādam, as long as you call upon me and hope in Me, I will forgive you despite what you do, and I do not care. Son of Ādam, even if your sins were to reach to the clouds of the sky, then you seek forgiveness from Me, I will forgive you. Son of Ādam, even if you were to come to Me with nearly an earth full of sins, and then you meet me, not having associated anything with me, then I will surely bring you as much as the earth in forgiveness.’” (Hadīth Qudsī, Tirmidhī)

Ibn Taymiyyah wrote: “Asking for Allah’s forgiveness is more important than all other duʿās.”
ইস্তিগফার বলতে ক্ষমা প্রার্থনা করাকে বোঝায়। তাওবার (অনুশোচনা) পাশাপাশি ইস্তিগফারও আমাদের দৈনন্দিন রুটিনের অংশ হওয়া উচিত। আমাদের প্রিয় নবী ﷺ প্রতিদিন বারবার ক্ষমা প্রার্থনা করতেন।

গুনাহ মাফের মাধ্যম হওয়ার পাশাপাশি, ইস্তিগফার বিপদ-আপদ দূর করে, দুশ্চিন্তা দূর করে এবং অনেক কল্যাণের পথ খুলে দেয়।

আল্লাহর রসূল ﷺ বলেছেন: “আল্লাহ তা‘আলা বলেন: ‘হে আদম সন্তান, যতক্ষণ তুমি আমাকে ডাকবে এবং আমার কাছে আশা পোষণ করবে, তোমার যা-ই (গুনাহ) থাকুক না কেন আমি তোমাকে ক্ষমা করে দেব, আমি পরোয়া করি না। হে আদম সন্তান, তোমার গুনাহ যদি আকাশের মেঘ পর্যন্তও পৌঁছে যায়, এরপর তুমি আমার কাছে ক্ষমা চাও, আমি তোমাকে ক্ষমা করে দেব। হে আদম সন্তান, তুমি যদি পৃথিবী পূর্ণ গুনাহ নিয়ে আমার কাছে আসো এবং আমার সাথে কোনো কিছুকে শরিক না করে আমার সাথে সাক্ষাৎ করো, তবে আমি তোমার কাছে ঠিক সমপরিমাণ পৃথিবী পূর্ণ ক্ষমা নিয়ে উপস্থিত হব।’” (হাদিসে কুদসি, তিরমিযী)

ইবনে তাইমিয়া লিখেছেন: “আল্লাহর কাছে ক্ষমা প্রার্থনা করা অন্য সকল দু‘আর চেয়ে বেশি গুরুত্বপূর্ণ।”

Remembering Allah is one of the most virtuous actions we can perform. There are some forms of dhikr which are time and context-specific. There are others which are ‘general’ and can be performed at any time and in unlimited quantities. This type of dhikr includes the recitation of the Qur’ān, tahlīl, tasbīḥ, taḥmīd, takbīr, ḥawqalah and the Names of Allah.

Dhikr is one of the greatest actions we can perform. When we remember Allah, He remembers us. Through dhikr, our hearts find true peace. Dhikr is one of the strongest forms of protection against shayṭān, the punishment of Allah, and all evil. Through dhikr, we can get to know Allah, love Him and attain closeness to Him.
আল্লাহকে স্মরণ করা (যিক্‌র) আমাদের পালন করা অন্যতম শ্রেষ্ঠ আমল। যিক্‌রের কিছু ধরণ আছে যা সময় এবং প্রেক্ষাপট-নির্দিষ্ট। আবার অন্য যিক্‌র আছে যেগুলো ‘সাধারণ’ এবং যে কোনো সময়ে ও সীমাহীন পরিমাণে করা যায়। এ ধরণের যিক্‌রের মধ্যে রয়েছে কুরআন তিলাওয়াত, তাহলীল, তাসবীহ, তাহমীদ, তাকবীর, হাওক্বালাহ এবং আল্লাহর নামসমূহ।

যিক্‌র হল আমাদের করা শ্রেষ্ঠ কাজগুলোর একটি। আমরা যখন আল্লাহকে স্মরণ করি, তিনি আমাদের স্মরণ করেন। যিক্‌রের মাধ্যমে আমাদের অন্তর প্রকৃত শান্তি খুঁজে পায়। শয়তান, আল্লাহর শাস্তি এবং যাবতীয় অনিষ্ট থেকে সুরক্ষার অন্যতম শক্তিশালী মাধ্যম হলো যিক্‌র। যিক্‌রের মাধ্যমে আমরা আল্লাহকে জানতে পারি, তাঁকে ভালোবাসতে পারি এবং তাঁর নৈকট্য লাভ করতে পারি।
